Juventus are reportedly plotting to hijack Inter’s move to sign soon-to-be out of contract defender Tiago Djalo from Ligue 1 side Lille according to recent updates.

Djalo has been linked with a move to join the Nerazzurri on a free transfer in the summer for several months already, and the player is reportedly keen to move to San Siro. However Juventus are preparing to intervene and could tempt Lille with a more immediate offer.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus could offer Lille a small fee for Djalo’s services in the January transfer window, which the French club would prefer rather than losing the player for free in the summer.

Though Juve’s budget is relatively tight, raising a fee through the sales of players such as Samuel Iling-Junior or Matias Soule is not out of the question.

La Gazzetta details that Juventus’ offer would likely fall in the region of a few million, plus the same again in bonuses and potential add-ons.

Djalo has not played competitively since March, having suffered a serious cruciate ligament injury towards the end of the 2022-23 campaign, however he is keen to get going again as quickly as possible.

This may help speed up a move, as Lille may not be inclined to field Djalo as a regular starter if he intends to leave for free in a few months’ time.
